Listening to the latest offering from Canadian artist Reg Vermue (artistically known as Gentleman Reg), it's hard not to feel like you're in the backseat of a 4-door with the sun hitting your face and the windows cracked. The artist's fifth studio record and second on his new label, Arts & Crafts, is a short and succinct collection of songs covering love and politics. Reg's voice, while not a powerhouse, carries the melodically-strong tracks on Jet Black with a heartfelt quality present throughout the entire record. The female harmonies present on the album, especially on the first two tracks, gives Reg's voice a boost that elevates the songs from pleasant pop to a lo-fi soulful rock. One will appreciate Reg's artistry especially on the slower tracks, including"When Heroes Change Professions
